Loved the whole package in terms of bach, household items, the fact that they have also made provision for the whole family. Certainly had everything we wanted and a location that provided privacy in a location that meant that you are within walking distance of the beach, the township and ferries. The owners have literally considered almost everything so that the guest has the best possible holiday experience whilst in beautiful Russell.

We enjoyed our stay in the bach immensely. It is very tidy and well equipped. It is located centrally in a quiet street with(in) minutes by car to reach beaches on either side of Russell’s beautiful peninsula. We enjoyed a daily morning walk to town & an early morning coffee at one of the many fine cafes about. Great sailing too in our little catamaran. Lovely bach, Very homely. Hope to come back here !

Dave & Maria’s home in Kororareka is fantastic and matched only by their hospitality, service and communication. If you want a home away from home in an idylic setting, give Damar a call, you won’t be disappointed. Brilliant ! The home is set back from the main village in a very quiet and idylic setting. Immaculate with great facilities and neighbours. Thank you both for a perfect honey moon away from the hustle and bustle of Auckland. Awesome.

10th July 2009
We had a wonderful time at Damar Russell. The facilities were excellent, and we enjoyed being warmed by the fire each night and sleeping in the loft bedroom. This is a cosy house which makes good use of space. Russell is a beautiful little town, with some stunning architecture. You will need to take a car ferry to get to most places from Russell. We would highly recommend visiting Keri Keri waterfall, and walking the Whangamumu Track (if you’re fit)
BW & JW, Preston, Victoria, Australia

23rd June 2009
Dave was an absolute pleasure to deal with. All our questions were answered promptly and we got great information about Russell, its surrounding areas and the bach. The bach was super cosy and we especially loved the log fire
AK, Auckland, New Zealand

16th June 2009
Everything was really well organised and communicated, right down to the package with detailed instructions for everything in the bach and highlights of the area (Russell / Bay of Islands). Made everything simple and easy. Recommended.
Bach was well set up and equipped, and just a short stroll into Russell township and waterfront. Everything you could want was there. We stayed in winter, and it was easy to make warm and cozy, but it would obviously be a great place to stay in summer. Would be happy to go back, particularly once things get warm again (whenever that may be!).
BG, Auckland, New Zealand

Me and my family went on heaps of holiday trips before but never one this fascinating. We have exceeded our main goals including exploring the area - Russell and its neighbour Paihia. We learnt a lot of facts at the Treaty of Waitangi and the Maori history. We have travelled to the top of NZ. This beautiful bach has even inspired my dad to buy some fishing gear for us. Thanks a lot for putting the fire into our holiday

9th January 2009
If you really want to read what I said about Damar Russell, book in for a nice long weekend and check out the entry for 07-09 Jan in their good, old-fashioned paper guest book. The place was wonderful, quiet and tranquil. It’s a true delight to be able to enter someone’s bach as a home and really feel like you are at home. I am certainly looking forward to making the trip north again and hopefully staying there once more. It’s well worth the trip and Russell is such a beautiful place to visit !

3rd January 2009
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bach, good facilities, accessible to the town centre and a good outdoor deck with BBQ. We really enjoyed our stay in Russell, particularly the Cream Boat Trip around the various bays, and our fishing trip on the Belfast. Also, the oyster farm is worth a visit for some yummy oysters. However, we would recommend you avoid Gannets for dinner - very disappointing. Thank you Dave and Maria for your house and recommendations.

We had an absolutely great time in Russell!! It was our first trip to New Zealand, but not our last. We loved it and we look forward to coming back some other time. Your house is nice and cosy. We liked it very much! We meant to write something in your guestbook in the end of the week, but then we never got around to do it. Maybe our three younger children had something to do with that - too busy. Also, coming back to Shanghai life was immediately back to full action and our holiday seemed like just a dream…. Once again, it was a pleasure to visit Russell, and many thanks!
